Our Mission

Who We Are

Established in 2012, this Vancouver mosque, religious organization and Islamic community centre. is located at 1659 East 10th Avenue, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Mosque Name

The masjid is named after 'Omar ibn Al-Khattāb (may Allah be pleased with him) – one of the Righteous Companions of the Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) and the second Khalifah (Caliph) of Islam. 'Omar ibn Al-Khattāb was affectionately nicknamed "Al-Farooq," which refers to "one who has the ability to clearly distinguish between right and wrong" because of his strictness in enjoining good and forbidding evil.

Our Mission

  • To disseminate authentic Islamic knowledge based on the Qur’ān and the Prophetic Sunnah, and to participate in Da’wah (Islamic outreach) activities both within and outside of the Muslim community

  • To educate our fellow Muslims about the message of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) using only the most reliable and authentic sources of Islamic knowledge

  • To help educate and train knowledgeable individuals to work in the field of Da’wah then share the message of Islam with non-Muslims through effective Da’wah programs

The Means

  • The establishment and operation of a Masjid (mosque) from which to offer prayers and organize religious, educational and social programs

  • The establishment of a public Islamic library with resources in both English and Arabic languages

  • The organization of regular Islamic courses, seminars and lectures in various fields of Islamic knowledge

  • The organization of Islamic workshops and conferences with distinguished scholars and academics

  • Organizing effective Da’wah programs for non-Muslims by inviting them to lectures and distributing appropriate reference materials
